The Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus held a fundraiser last weekend called Big Wig III, which featured big hair and flowing cocktails. Party-goers sported wigs that were teased to the sky, some adorned with stuffed animals, others with glitter, glam and flowers.

Some got very creative with matching full-length costumes, including one sporty chorus supporter who wore a wrestling singlet to complement the wrestling ring complete with action figures atop his head. Competition judges wore curly white wigs that were larger than their tiny colored briefs, in another sign that event organizers were going for bigger and better this year. They moved the event to the Bradford Gallery to provide a larger venue, and DJ Todd Skelton provided the tunes for the dance competition. As the event executive director said, "There's nothing more fun than men and women wearing crazy wigs and dancing to disco music and flashing lights."

There are many tummy flattening exercises you can do, and even a tummy belt that you can use, to increase your abdominal muscle tone, leading to better performance in many sports including martial arts. One exercise that was said to be a favorite of martial arts legend Bruce Lee is called the vertical knee raise. This can be done at the gym on a piece of equipment designed for vertical knee raises.

The vertical knee raise exercise is very simple. You step into the station and face outwards. Then place your back against the pad, and put your arms on the rests and grip the handles. In this starting position your feet are supporting you and you are at rest, ready to exercise. Now you slowly lift your knees towards your chest, hold them there for a moment, and slowly lower them again. Rest for a second and then repeat. It's important to go slowly when doing this exercise, and don't overdo it on the first try.

For wrestler Sam Guidi of Pennsylvania, his wrestling singlet is a good luck charm. While it looks as though it's been pulled off a second-hand store shelf, with the logo missing, the lettering peeling off the back, and the red and black coloring faded out, that's because he wears it for every opening round of every tournament he performs in.

The singlet is six years old, and it was a hand-me-down to begin with. But coupled with Guidi's extensive talents, it was enough to carry him through the first round of the PIAA Class AA Wrestling Championships at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania last week. Giudi was one of eight area Class AA wrestlers who advanced to the quarterfinals and one of13 still alive for a medal after a strong first day.
