State Champion Draws Inspiration from Sister's Name Stitched to Wrestling Singlet

On the way to winning the state Class 4A wrestling 125-pound state championship, Bryle Martin was proud to have the initials CAM stitched on his wrestling singlet. As Bryle was winning the state championship, his sister Cameron Martin was in the hospital on life support for the last 22 days.

Cameron became ill while Bryle was in the middle of training for the state championships. Cameron was eventually diagnosed with the flu and pneumonia which later on developed in MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) and Bryle was left distracted in training but that didn't stop him from giving it his all on the day when the only thing that mattered was his 6 minutes on the mat.

Said Bryle, "She's been fighting for 22 days on life support. If she can do that, I can sure last six minutes on the wrestling mat."
